Being vegan can be a hard. It takes a lot of effort to know which ingredients are animal-derived and which are not. If they’re even listed. What many people don’t know is that a lot of wines and beers are not vegan or not even vegetarian. Animal-based substances such as gelatin, eggs, and isinglass are used to clarify and stabilize most wines. Thankfully, more and more wineries and breweries are changing their methods and are now making vegan wines and beers.
Canadian wine has certainly been gaining popularity in recent years and we’re lucky to have many wineries making vegan wines. So let’s support our local wine makers and grab one of these bottles next time you’re at the LCBO. Cheers to that!
