What is stone ground chocolate?
What makes ChocoSol’s chocolate even more special, is that it’s stone ground. This is an ancient technique used by the Aztecs and Mayans to turn cocoa beans into chocolate. During the chocolate-making process, ChocoSol roasts the cacao nibs and then hand-grinds them against Mexican stone mills. The result is a truly unconventional chocolate with an almost gritty texture. Don’t let this fool you though. The flavor is so rich, natural, and dark, that you will never crave a Hershey milk chocolate bar again.

ChocoSol is a social enterprise from Toronto that turns cacao into artisanal dark chocolate. ChocoSol chocolate is made from a unique blend of cacao varieties that are sourced directly from indigenous communities in Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Ecuador. Their trade relationships with the growers go beyond fairtrade and organic in both growing conditions and in pricing. All of their chocolate bars are stone-ground. Moreover, they’re all vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and soy-free.
