When you buy chocolate that is Fairtrade certified, you support small-scale farmers and workers. With Fairtrade, they’re able to improve their lives while they adhering to social, economic and environmental standards.
Why certified organic?
Certified organic chocolate makes sense for everybody: for Zimt, for you and for the planet. Organic chocolate is pure, pesticide and herbicide free and full of flavor. Growing chocolate without pesticides and herbicides does not only mean healthier soil but also healthier farmers and a healthier you.
Why is raw chocolate considered healthier than regular chocolate?
Raw cacao is very popular at the moment as some research shows that it has some of the highest levels of antioxidants of any food. The main difference between raw chocolate and regular chocolate is that the cacao beans in raw chocolate are not roasted, nor do they reach temperatures above about 49 °C.
Why is coconut sugar considered healthier than cane sugar?
Coconut sugar is full of nutrients, including magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron, B vitamins, and amino acids. Unlike with cane sugar, no nutrients are removed in the processing of coconut sugar, leaving all of these nutrients intact. Coconut sugar shows a lower range of 35 to 54 on the GI scale per serving than other sugars, such as refined white sugar, molasses, and muscovado sugar that show a range of 65 to 100. Coconut palms also require very little water to grow, and produce an average of 50-75% more sugar per acre than cane sugar and use less than 1/5th of the soil nutrients and water for this production.
About Zimt Chocolates
Zimt Chocolates had some fairly humble beginnings. Founder Emma Smith started out by making chocolates in her home kitchen. When it was time to sell in retail stores, she began to manufacture out of a church kitchen, then a vegan cupcake shop, then a vegan yogurt factory and now Zimt operates in a proper chocolate factory. All of Zimt’s ingredients are all certified organic, they use only coconut sugar and coconut nectar to sweeten their treats. Moreover, they’re committed to donating 1% of all of their sales to helping those in need.
