Made from fairtrade and organic ingredients

The Chota Tingrai Tea Estate is located in the Tinsukia district of Assam. Established in 1943, it currently spans 600 Hectares, with 350 Ha. of planted tea. Chota Tingrai is home to 600 families with a total population of 2200. Run by young and progressive thinking, fourth-generation tea farmers, they are a great example of change agents in Assam toward sustainable and ethical farming.

The cacao used in this bar was ethically sourced from a single-estate cacao farm in Venezuela via Delicacies Valley. We pay the farmers fairtrade prices in an effort to adequately compensate the farmers’ labor, support local infrastructure, and encourage sustainable growth.

 

About VAKA Chocolate

Small batch, bean to bar, craft chocolate. Single-origin, inclusions, flavor exploration. We use only ethically and sustainably sourced cacao in combination with the finest ingredients to create chocolate you can feel good about. Our products are inspired by nature, the seasons, a conversation with a friend, a family-old dessert recipe, a favorite song, and are made in small-batch quantities. Once sold out, some may not return until a year later.

Vegan-certified vs. vegan-friendly products

All products sold at FAIR/SQUARE are free from animal-derived ingredients and have never been tested on animals.

  • Some products show a vegan certification logo. This means that they have been made in a production facility dedicated to vegan products and have been certified by an independent 3rd party organization.
  • Some products show only the word 'vegan' on the packaging. This means that the manufacturer guarantees that the product does not contain animal-derived ingredients but they did not go through the process of third party certification (yet).
  • Some products are 'accidentally vegan' or vegan-friendly. This means they do not contain ingredients of animal origin but they could have been made in a facility that makes other products containing animal-derived ingredients such as milk, eggs etc.
  • Due to industry regulations in regards to allergies, you may find a warning such as 'may contain: milk' under the ingredients list. This does not mean milk is in the product, but there's a slight chance of cross-contamination.
