Flavorful direct trade coffee from El Salvador
This medium roast, semi-washed coffee from Firebat Coffee has been sundried with the natural sweet skin of the coffee cherry on the bean. This so-called “honey” process creates a clementine like flavor-profile layered with sweet molasses notes. You can find the Shangrila farm in Apaneca, El Salvador. Juan Carlos Gregg is the young producer who manages the farm led by his vision for quality. This 2015 Cup of Excellence winning farm is an ecological stronghold providing habitat for fauna and receives garden-like care year round due to its small size. Juan Carlos is also very active in his community with sustainable practices.
What does direct trade mean?
Firebat Coffee sells single origin coffees sourced through the direct trade business model, This model allows producers to receive a pay well above Fair Trade prices. Direct trade allows Firebat to continuously work with the coffee producers and to develop long-term business relationships with them, as well as support the local communities. Their passion is not just coffee but to truly make a positive difference in the local coffee-producing communities.
How to store your coffee
Once opened, store your Finca Shangrila coffee in an airtight, opaque container and put it in a cooler spot in your house. Exposure to air, light, and heat will mean that your coffee loses its aroma more quickly. Do not freeze your coffee or store it in the fridge. The moisture in the fridge or freezer will make your coffee bland and tasteless in no time!
